THE BATTLE OF GAINES' MILL - THE WILLIAM REGER COLLECTION - A Dropped .54 Caliber 3-Ring Bullet
This Dropped .54 Caliber 3-Ring Bullet was found by William Reger at the Gaines' Mill Battlefield. This relic was in a large Pennsylvania collection of carefully identified relics that were recovered in the 1950s, 1960s and 1970s. Reger included Type-writer typed labels with the relic groupings. In this case, the tag is not included, as it was the only tag for this particular grouping, however, a copy will be included, as well as a provenance letter.
Gaines' Mill was the second battle of the famous Seven Days Battles of 1862. At Gaines Mill, the Union position was eventually broken (after a Confederate attack spearheaded by Hood's Texans) but at the cost of almost 15,000 casualties on both sides. A provenance letter will be included.
